TODAY is International Yoga day millions of people will to-day be managing their lives a bit better if you would like better life management and would like some sunshine why not come with me to Spain 6-9th July for the special late booking price of only £299 flights from Gatwick are currently only £140.

There was a an interesting article on Yoga in the Telegraph you may enjoy reading.

As mentioned in previous blogs yoga is NOT about getting yourself into a pretzel shape but the head space you get from the practise. Unfortunately we live in  a western society where the mantra is "Try do and succeed". When doing yoga you need a more Eastern philosophy of "Just do and be". This does not mean we do not put effort in but the question is how much effort?

The practise is very much like the Aesop tale of the "Hare and the Tortoise":-

There once was a speedy hare who bragged about how fast he could run. Tired of hearing him boast, Slow and Steady, the tortoise, challenged him to a race. All the animals in the forest gathered to watch.

Hare ran down the road for a while and then and paused to rest. He looked back at Slow and Steady and cried out, "How do you expect to win this race when you are walking along at your slow, slow pace?"

Hare stretched himself out alongside the road and fell asleep, thinking, "There is plenty of time to relax."

Slow and Steady walked and walked. He never, ever stopped until he came to the finish line.

The animals who were watching cheered so loudly for Tortoise, they woke up Hare.

Hare stretched and yawned and began to run again, but it was too late. Tortoise was over the line.

After that, Hare always reminded himself, "Don't brag about your lightning pace, for Slow and Steady won the race!"

Yoga is about being slow and steady it is your practise on your mat it does not matter what the next person is doing.

I am mindful of the story about the Yoga teacher and the student a 50 year old man with a bad back.. One day the teacher put 2 reams of paper on the floor and tells the student that each that each time he folds forward from a standing position he can pick up one piece of paper. The student the says "but it will take me 20 years to pick up the last piece" to which the teacher replies "But it took you 50 years to get a bad back"

Finally. Remember don't love Pizza more than you love yourself!

Yours in Yoga,

Les
