The Ultimate Yoga Bootcamp

Many people think you have to be flexible to do yoga. This is not the case. The practise focuses on the breath, core strength and a sequence of postures which warm up our body. A warm body is more flexible and so joints and muscles are mobilised without stress.

I have not always been a Yogaman. Until my 50’s I was a “full on” sportsman playing league squash 3 times a week, skiing three times a season, all terrain and road biking every weekend, runner, swimmer and gym bunny. Then I found Yoga! Yoga improved my muscle tone and stamina, deepened my breathing capacity, gave me an aerobic workout, improved my flexibility and left me feeling invigorated. I also developed unexpected benefits of increased mental focus and an extraordinary sense of calm.

The likes of Andy Murray and our Olympian golden girl Jessica Ennis do yoga. Ryan Giggs, (39), attributes his longevity in premier football to the practice. Celebrities Lady Gaga, Madonna, Sting, Jennifer Aniston, Jon Bon Jovi, and supermodels Alessandra Ambrosio and Miranda Kerr are all reported to keep fit with yoga.

Why do Yoga?

There is a host of research findings showing what the ancient yogis already knew 1000’s of years ago. Yoga works on the whole body, even the brain, and so offers a mind and body workout in one neat package.
